Potluck and a Movie Night

Emerson Hall, Court St. Castine

Kevin DeBeck is back at the helm organizing this year’s popular bi-weekly event that commences on January 7 and runs through May 13. The meals begin at 5:30 p.m. and the film showings begin at 6:30 p.m. at Emerson Town Hall.

We have several volunteers who did not host last year and have submitted titles:

Rear Window. – Roberta and Bruce Boczkiewicz

The Dish – Johanna Sweet

Summer Hours – Riva Berleant

Kevin’s pick to host this year is The Court Jester, starring Danny Kaye.

But that leaves us with SIX slots to fill, preference will be given to people who did not host last year, followed by hosts who did present last year. In case of a rich abundance of submissions, we will draw selections from a hat and give preference next year to those individuals who do not host this year. 

Movie submissions should be sent to Kevin at kjdebeck@gmail.com. The schedule will hopefully be posted by Thanksgiving.

January 7 & 21

February 4 & 18

March 4 & 18

April 1, 15 & 29

May 13

Note: If you are a host, there its a protocol to follow:

You provide the DVD, Blue Ray is preferred. If you are requesting the dvd from the library, make your request at least two weeks prior to the movie showing date.

Arrive at Emerson Town Hall no later than 5:10 p.m. on the evening of your film in order to help with set-up and also help with clean-up.

Prepare a brief introduction to your movie.

Take the tablecloths from your evening’s showing and wash them, returning them to Kevin prior to the next movie date.

If you are a host, you are not responsible for : running the equipment that projects the film, opening and locking town hall, providing plates, napkins, cups, or utensils..

As you can see from the above list, these responsibilities are significant and by sharing the weekly load, the burden does not fall on any one person week after week. Thank you for participating.
