Location

Witherle Memorial Library

We will be reading '1536' by Ava Pickett. Copies of the script are available at the library.

SYNOPSIS:

Ava Pickett’s ‘1536’ is a widely acclaimed, "bold and ballsy" debut play that merges Tudor history with sharp, contemporary feminist drama. The play follows three women in rural Essex reacting to Anne Boleyn’s execution, exploring themes of misogyny, power, and female friendship with wit and visceral energy. 1536 was commended by the George Devine Award, won the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and premiered at the Almeida Theatre, London, in 2025.
